First Game of Fall

I'm back.
It has been one crazy insane month.  Inservice, back to school crazy, the first day of school and the first game of fall.  Hard to believe that our first game is behind us!

The week leading up to game day was probably the most difficult for me as a wife.  Coach Husband wasn't able to make it home before I was asleep until Wednesday night, his freshman played in Austin Thursday & he came home around one in the morning.  Since he is up and gone before 5:15 most mornings to work out it was a solid 72 hours without seeing my favorite guy.  The back to school stress and exhaustion magnified my feelings and I cried a little Wednesday afternoon before he got home.

A long week though was totally worth it Friday night though!  Not only did we come out on the winners side of the scoreboard 48-22 we played a complete game in all three phases!  On top of that we watched a player that holds a special place in our hearts have an incredible game as a varsity player.  Three touchdown and a stiff arm that is going to be one of legends had me screaming so loud my voice is still raspy.

Kickoff was scheduled for  7:30 but a random thunderstorm and lots of lightening pushed us back to 8:15.  I waited out the storm hunkered down at Karen's house with her boys and when we got to the stadium I had a great surprise waiting for me!  One of my favorite people was at the game with our good friend Jamie.  Miller stayed and cheered for the first half and it was so fun to hang out outside of school!! I also ran into one of my littles from last year whose grandmother was being recognized at halftime.  So many people that make my heart happy in one place.

The best part of the night though was when the clock had ticked down and Coach Husband came out of the box and met me on the field.  I love celebrating wins with him.  I always get a hug, kiss and picture.  He's my favorite y'all and I am so blessed to do life alongside of him.

Now it's on to Week 2,

the Fridays: No. 4

one-- Coach Husband took me to prom this past weekend y'all!  We chaperoned prom had a fabulous time watching our players & their dates live it up on the dance floor.  I loved renting a dress once again from Rent the Runway & going out with my favorite date.

two--  The first annual Girls Weekend Trip is officially booked & planned!  Two of my favorite blonde teacher friends & I are headed to Austin for a weekend of food, shopping & some girl time.  It only took three coffes, five pieces of technology and two hours to come up with a final destiantion and booking.  Our plan is to make this a yearly occurrence and have already started throwing around ideas for next years trip.  #helpingtokeepaustinweird #girlsweekendaway

three-- My Emily Ley Planner & journal came in this week!  I am so sad I have to wait until August to start officially using it.
four-- I went to the 254 Creative last night with my good friend Tamara.  We had a blast learning the basic of hand-lettering. It was surprisingly a way for me to decompress and de-stress.  While I do not foresee myself busting out some hand lettered prints any time soon it will be a fun thing to indulge in for a little "me" time.

five-- Only SEVEN school day wake-ups left until sweet summertime.  I am repeating this little saying each morning as motivation to get up and conquer.

the Fridays: No. 3

one-- This week I got to play taxi-service for my #footballfamily!  Karen's work schedule was off this week so I was able to take K over to football practice after school.  Being at practice for the 2-3 minutes it took to make the child swap gave me a mini glimpse into the other side of my husband.  It was a real hoot to watch him blow his whistle, yell at players to hit the fence & see him in action.
two-- Currently reading The Nest by Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney.  Love when book recommendations from friends far & wide.  It expands my bookshelf and gives me a change of pace from my normal.

three-- The month of April at school we were collecting Cans for Critters.  The grade level that collected the most aluminum cans would win a Behind the Scenes Tour of our local zoo.  Sadly kindergarten came in 2nd place but our competitive spirit never wavered.
four-- I have had my eye on a monogrammed fishing shirt for the past few weeks.  Mint Julep Monograms is my go-to for anything I ever need and I have finally decided to pull the trigger but cannot for the life of my decide on what color thread I need my monogram in....
Suggestions are welcome & encouraged!

five-- This week Coach Husband had to have a difficult conversation with a player.  Not about athletics or performance but a life lesson.  We talked together and prayed about what to say, how to say it and asked for the Lord to prepare our hearts if it wasn't received well.  These are the times I am most proud of my husband.  Not after a win or even after he received the Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award but when he is intentionally growing, molding and mentoring young men.  He's my favorite y'all.

Till Next Time Y'all
