the Fridays: No 8

one-- Coach & I had a weekend full of 4th of July festivities!  We started off Saturday at the farm for our annual family reunion.  We enjoyed fried chicken, the best macaroni & cheese ever with lots of family thrown in the mix.  I love this tradition that has been going on since before my mom was born.  Sunday evening we headed to our friends' house for another round of food, friends and fun!  It was a great night with people we consider our "adopted family".
4th of July rounded out with our neighborhood parade on Monday morning! Fireworks did happen over the river but we were both so tired from our crazy weekend we opted for a night in with an early bedtime.

I love this lady and how selflessly she shares her family with me!

Incredibly impressed with how this pup did in the midst of complete craziness at the parade.

two-- Becca & I have been getting our walk at a serious level! We've used our lax schedules and laced up our tennis shoes [a new pair would be a fab birthday gift Coach] and hit the pavement almost every day this week.  Becca's husband surprised her with a Fitbit for her birthday last week so we took the walking to a more competitive level with the Workweek Hustle challenge.  We also found ourselves jumping in the car to enjoy a frozen lemonade after one in particularly hot walk this week.

no makeup, sweaty & a little blurry but this friend is such a God-send.  Grateful for you Becca!

three-- I saw the back to school section going up in Target this week and my teacher heart sank for a minute.  This summer has been truly magical and the first since I began teaching that resulted in me getting some actual rest instead of getting married & moving, getting my Master Reading Teacher certification or working an extra job.  I'm really grateful that Coach Husband recognized the signs of defeat & emotional/mental exhaustion this past school year.  I loved those littles something fierce but the 2015-2016 school year absolutely whipped me as a teacher for an array of reasons.  CH was adamant I scale way back and use this summer to completely recharge and rejuvenate both my body and my soul.  That being said Room 303 will be getting a facelift in the coming weeks as a clean slate for me to begin again in August.  Stay tuned for some before and afters....
four-- On Wednesday we celebrated three years of marriage!  You can take a look back at the past three years in pictures & see one of my favorite moments of our ceremony here.  It was a really sweet thing to sit down together and chat about the highlights of married life and what we are looking forward to in year four.
five-- We leave for Coaches Outreach TODAY!  I feel as though this has been a long time coming and I am anxiously waiting to see how God moves & reveals Himself in us individually and as a couple.  We covet your prayers this weekend as we connect with other coaches & their spouses who all long for this way of life to be more than a career but a ministry as well.  Specifically we would ask for you to pray:
1) That we set aside outside distractions & are present in the moment with each other and our small group.
2) Our hearts would be open to the Lord individually and as a couple.
3) Traveling mercies as we drive there and home

Happy Friday Y'all,
